Andrew J. Anthony was born in Newark, NJ. He received his B.A. from Kean College of New Jersey in 1973. He attended the University of Miami, School of Law and received his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, in 1976. He is AV rated.
Mr. Anthony was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1977 and admitted to practice in the United States District Court in 1977. He was qualified to practice as a member of the Trial Bar of the District Court in 1984. He was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in 1994, and before the Supreme Court of the United States in 2000.
Mr. Anthony began appearing in The Marquis “Who’s Who in American Law” in 1988 and in “Who’s Who in America in 2001.
Mr. Anthony is an experienced trial lawyer focusing on civil litigation in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. He has a broad background in cases involving bodily injury, breaches of contracts, commercial law, and insurance law. For years, Mr. Anthony was outside counsel for The Wackenhut Corporation, a NYSE listed company. In addition to handling its contract and tort claims against it in South Florida, he also handled its primary insurance, self-retention and excess insurance matters. He was selected as part of Benjamin Civiletti’s insurance defense team in claims arising out of his client’s work for a consortium of oil companies operating the Alyeska Pipeline. Mr. Anthony was also selected as a member of an appellate team, along with Ray Ehrlich, James St. Clair and Robert Mueller after a Massachusetts’ jury entered its verdict for an amount in excess of primary limits against his client. He continues to represent other institutions, businesses, and individuals in claims for negligence, claims for breach of contract, and claims for insurance coverage in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
